- Description: The RCS High School Symphonic Band is a performance group designed to foster traditional skills, learning, and appreciation of the instrumental arts. Music sight-reading and instrument technique are taught at an intermediate to advanced level, encouraging students to build on their mastery of rudimentary skills and dive into more difficult music. The rehearsals will take place as a class during the school day (so as not to conflict with athletics), but participation in extracurricular activities is a requirement as a member. For this school year, participation in the “Screechin’ Eagles” Pep Band is also a requirement (when not in conflict with other athletic requirements). Year-long commitment to the group is mandated. Traditional and non-traditional band instruments are used in this course (i.e. flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, bass guitar, and various percussion instruments).
